The club is a Registered Student Organization (RSO) and Club Sport. Members compete in local, state, regional, and national tournaments in various collegiate (Carhart BassMaster College Series, FLW College Tour, Cabela's Collegiate Bass Series) bass fishing programs. The members also compete in the College Bass Tour/CBT and Michigan College Bass Circuit/MCBC. The club has had the only all woman teams in the state for the past two seasons. We have doubled the size of the club since it started in 2013 as well.
We are currently seeking sponsors for our program to enable us to attend these tournaments. Being a club sport we only receive partial funding from the university. We provide our own boats, and have expenses for tournament fees, lodging, transportation, and equipment. If you or someone you know is interested in becoming a sponsor, see our plan below and please contact. If you are interested in joining contact us by using the contact form located on this page.

Teams Are Ready to Go!!!
We are ready for the season to begin. Saturday the members of the club will be competing on Elk and Torch Lakes for the initial qualifying tournament of the 2021 College Bass Tour. The club has 5 teams competing with two of them having the member of the team that had the biggest bag of the MCBC Classic tournament on these lakes last August.
The teams for this season are:
Dylan Matus and Colin DeRidder
Grant Fry and Ethan Valdes
Noah Stauffer and Erick Hannahs
Trevor Campbell with a friend from another school
Mattew Pomranky - no partner
Dylan Matus, current President, and Noah Stauffer finished in fourth at the classic due to the loss of fish on day one. They finished day 2 with the biggest bag of the tournament placing them fourth in the tournament. Even with a tough finish the two landed in second place for team of the year. The number and quality of fish caught by all the member enabled Ferris State to finish fourth in the school of the year standing. The school of the year points were unofficial and no awards were issue due to COVID policies.
Other notable returning anglers are Grant Fry who did very well last year on Portage Lake. He will partner with Ethan Valdes who established himself last year as a contender among the many talented college anglers on the circuits.
The returning members will change things up a bit for the first BASS Carhartt College Series on Saginaw Bay June 16 & 17. Dylan Matus and Ethan Valdes will be on Dylan’s new 2021 Nitro while Noah Stauffer and Trevor Campbell will competing together. Both teams have plenty of tournament experience and the knowledge to place well. If they are able to place in the top 25 they will be eligible for the BASS national championship.
Just weeks after the world’s top professional anglers do battle for a Bassmaster Elite Series victory on the St. Lawrence River, the country’s best college teams will converge in Waddington, N.Y., for the Carhartt Bassmaster College Series National Championship presented by Bass Pro Shops, which will be held Aug. 12-14, 2021. Clarkson University and its Bass Fishing Team are the local hosts along with the St. Lawrence County Chamber and Village of Waddington.
Then they will continue to strive for team and school of the year on the College Bass Tour schedule. The remaining tournament in the series are as follows:
July 10th Houghton Lake (South Launch)
Qualifier #2 on Houghton Lake (Roscommon County)
July 17th
Muskegon Lake (Fishermans Landing)
Qualifier #3 on Muskegon Lake (Muskegon County)
July 31st
Grand River (Grand Marina - Nunica)
Qualifier #4 on the Grand River (Ottawa County)
August 14
Lake St Clair - Harley Ensign
2021 Championship on Lake St Clair (Macomb County)
It should be an outstanding season as the teams compete and hopefully bring home some hardware for the club and university.

Latest News on the 2020 Season
Here is the most recent information on the participation of our club this summer from the university leadership:
"Although the State of Michigan Coronavirus Updates have begun to reopen parts of the state, is considering allowing small in-person gatherings to resume, and lifting some restrictions for individuals and businesses, Ferris State University has moved completely virtual/remote for the entire summer term. Given this, the expectation is that all Registered Student Organization (RSO) operations (including but not limited to meetings, fundraisers, socials, sports, & events) should take place in a virtual/remote capacity through the summer term, concluding on Saturday, August 15, 2020. All event registration guidelines should be followed as usual."
We are still waiting on guidelines and clear direction on how to hold meetings and events in the current enviroment.

Members Completed Community Service Hours
The members of the club participated collected trash from the US 131 shoulders from 13 Mile Road to 11 Mile Road on both the North and South bound lanes. The members gathered 22 bags of trash for the M-DOT project where the club cleans the highway three times a year. Due to the pandemic the highway clean was suspended for most of last year and it was clearly evident when the group went out this year.
